Possible druid bugs
« on: March 22, 2024, 01:38:57 PM »
Was experimenting with the elementals today and the following happened:

call wind
call wind
***
A cyclonic wind forms from a passing breeze and forms a wind guardian!
***
You summon a wind guardian that is level 1 with 30 vitality and 0 armor.
***
Your wind guardian will not attack but instead, as long as it remains active
will guide you as you walk and will prevent you from ever trip and falling
or triggering traps, and will never let you be moved from a room by a
hostile action.
ne
ne
***
You're in a cave.
There is a huge rat here.
There is nothing on the floor.
[HP:90/90 MA:5/5]
***
A spiked trap catches your foot and pain shoots up your leg!
***
A wind guardian has just arrived from the southwest.
***
The wind guardian dissipates and blows away with the surrounding breeze!
he
he
***
Mana:         5 / 5
Vitality:     62 / 90
Status:       Healthy
***

This was in the Town 1 dungeon. As you can see, I took damange from the spike trap, and it appears my wind guardian also took enough damage to die.
Is the intention of the wind guardian to prevent triggering all traps, or only certain types of traps?

no both should have not taken damage... also try these other 2 scenarios... enter a pit see if you drop in... stand with the cyclops and see if you get thrown from the room.

I'm walking over to check the pit scenario now, but in the mean time, there is a second possible bug I wanted to highlight:

You're inside the dungeon entrance.
There is nobody here.
There is nothing on the floor.
[HP:36/90 MA:5/5]
eq
eq
***
Primary:      Mace                      Dmg: 5-10
Armor:        Cuirass                   A/R: 2
Magic Item:   Ring Of Minor Damage      Inf: +4 weapon damage
***
Your Dmg:     8-13
Your A.R:     2
c torayari
c torayari
***
You protect yourself with a stone shield!
***
Your armor will now provide you with additional protection!

Primary:      Mace                      Dmg: 5-10
Armor:        Cuirass                   A/R: 2
Magic Item:   Ring Of Minor Damage      Inf: +4 weapon damage
***
Your Dmg:     8-13
Your A.R:     2
call stone
call stone
***
Rocks and stones from a nearby corner come together and form a stone guardian!
***
You summon a stone guardian that is level 1 with 30 vitality and 0 armor.
***
Your stone guardian will attack once per round with a physical attack and as
long as it remains active your stone shield spell will provide you with an
extra layer of protection.
eq
eq
***
Primary:      Mace                      Dmg: 5-10
Armor:        Cuirass                   A/R: 2
Magic Item:   Ring Of Minor Damage      Inf: +4 weapon damage
***
Your Dmg:     8-13
Your A.R:     3
***

So what I'm seeing here is that stoneshield alone does not appear to add any protection. Before and after casting I remain at 2 AR. When I summon the stone guardian, I do get a 1 AR boost, but stoneshield alone should still have some level of additional protection.
This may be related to an earlier bug I highlighted where my characters were all resurrecting with a cuirass equipped. The cuirass my druid currently has on is one he received upon resurrection, so not sure if that has any baring on this.

Back to the wind guardian:

You're in a cave.
There is nobody here.
There is nothing on the floor.
[HP:78/90 MA:5/5]
***
A wind guardian has just arrived from the southeast.

There is nobody here.
There is nothing on the floor.
[HP:78/90 MA:5/5]
***
You just fell through a trap door in the floor!
***
You're in a pit.
There is nobody here.
There is nothing on the floor.
[HP:78/90 MA:5/5]
***
A wind guardian has just fallen into the room through a trap door in the
ceiling!
***
An odd tingling sensation washes over you briefly!

Exits: u.
***
You're in a pit.
There is a wind guardian here.
There is nothing on the floor.
[HP:79/90 MA:5/5]

The walls of this pit are too steep to climb unaided.

So, yes, the pit trap still triggers, and my wind guardian even comes with me!

Going back to stone elemental for a minute:
I've notice that my stone elemental is unable to successfully hit even the weakest create. It's attack just bounce off of orcs, kobolds, anything. I'm not sure if this is maybe an oversight or intentional, but it seems that stone elementals are almost obsolete by about level 6.

ill have to look at the damage creation function... the druid summons values are created based on level so its probably slightly off
